Becker Nachrichtentechnik GmbH offers a large portfolio of high performance broadband RF amplifiers. Optimized for linearity, high dynamic range and low noise, they cover all widely used radio standards like cellular, satellite radio, TETRA/BOS, GNSS, GPS, 802.11, including the new bands for LTE-U. They amplify wideband radio signals from shortwave over UHF, VHF up to 18 GHz in 50 Ohm technology (I-band, G-band, P-band, L-band, S-band, C-band and X-band). They are used as compact RF drivers, antenna pre-amplifiers or RF boosters in a variety of applications ranging from tunnel radio coverage extension, over airspace radio monitoring to in-ear monitoring and can also be offered as 1U 19” rack variants. Due to their advanced design, the power consumption is significant lower than typical industry alternatives, saving cost at customers with respect to cooling.

Modern receivers for broadcast have a large number of antenna inputs for the different radio bands. The devices of the FDMX series can be used to supply the antenna inputs with RF signals. The devices of the FDMX series splits a sum signal in frequency division multiplex into the individual broadcast bands and the L1 satellite navigation band (GNSS). Additionally, DC loads are provided for each antenna input to simulate active antennas. The presence of remote power supply is indicated by an LED on the units.

Software-Defined Radio (SDR) is an attractive approach for mobile communication architectures in the development and evaluation phase for a rapid prototyping on a flexible platform. SDRs support a wide frequency range. However, for practical use in the field the HF properties are insufficient. The transmit power is limited to a 2-digit mW value. Dedicated filters are required for an effective suppression of out-of-band signals and to improve the noise figure of the receiver chain. Extending SDRs with application-specific RF-frontends achieves optimal RF performance in the field.

Signal Combiner

In large scale RF signal distribution systems such as broadcast signal distributions, several signals of radio bands have to be transmitted over longer cable distances. Due to the different frequency ranges, the signals can be transmitted via one common coaxial cable. This saves costs for the coaxial cables and their installation. With help of signal combiners, multiple signal sources can be combined broadband or frequency selective to a sum signal with low loss in level.

Becker Nachrichtentechnik GmbH offers a comprehensive portfolio of active multicouplers and bi-directional signal splitters for duplicating RF signals from common sources. The multi-couplers are designed in 50 ohm technology and are available as a 19 ", 1 U devices as well as slot-in modules for our 'Modular RF Systems' platform. With help of the slot-in modules, larger scale distribution structures can be realized in a space-saving and cost-effective manner. Some devices are available in variants for AC or DC power supply and provide service-friendly remote monitoring capabilities. For use in the production of infotainment components special multi-couplers with integrated HF and DC test functions are available. The multi couplers are used in applications like radio monitoring and direction finding, in product development, validation, manufacturing, quality assurance and in the field of research.
