Electrical Safety Test Equipment
Making a product “safe” requires an understanding of “hazards” that exist in each electrical product. Electrical shock is one of the four fundamental hazards. Because of that, it must be a part of any product electrical safety evaluation. Even though a product requires an electrical power source and uses electrical or electronic components, it should not present an electrical shock hazard to the user.Ground bond or earth continuity testing prevents electrical shock hazards. Similarly to a fault to earth, test instruments generate a high current. The standard requires that the resistance between protective earth and any conductive surface on the equipment does not exceed 0,1 Ohm. The test is performed by applying a DC current between the conductive surface and protective earth. By measuring the voltage drop, it calculates the resistance.RMO-E instruments are ideal for testing the protective bonding (grounding) of equipment following the standard IEC 61010-1. Applying current up to the value of 100 A and the ability to provide in the Contin menu (continuous operation) test current for the pre-set test duration (equal or exceeding 1 min) gives a user a possibility to easily check the protective bonding/grounding of the equipment. The full load voltage of 12 V assures proper measurement and accurate result. Finally, an instrument displays pass/fail classification according to user-preset parameters.

The Falco Systems WMA-01 is a high voltage amplifier that runs from an 24 - 30V DC power supply and can be battery powered if required, e.g. for use in a Faraday cage. Its internal high voltage generator is inductor-free and hence does not spread magnetic interference in sensitive experimental setups. The output noise is impressively low at 3mVrms. For extremely low noise applications where bandwidth is not an issue, a dedicated WMA-01LF version is available that contains an output low pass filter capacitor which reduces the bandwidth to 50Hz, but makes the noise drop to below 0.1mVrms. This bandwidth-limited amplifier is ideal for MEMS or piezo positioning with manual voltage adjustment.

Highly integrated breakout board for the ST Micro VL53L0X Time of Flight (ToF) range finder sensor, which builds on the absolute ranging technology introduced with the VL6180X. The VL53L0X drops the ambient light sensing capability of it's predecessor for a 10X improvement in absolute ranging capability, bringing the maximum possible range to 2 meters! As a result, this sensor has even more uses in the robotics, cell phone and gesture recognition space. The SEN-36003 includes the VL53L0X IC mounted between two 4-40 sized mounting holes with on board 2.8V LDO and high-speed signal translation to handle interface voltages from 3V to 5V. The board is interfaced via an I2C interface and function pins have been broken out to a 0.1" pin header. Increasing the contact resistance of the contact often causes a large voltage drop on the contact, which reduces the input power of the load equipment.
